This is the image for the news article titled Two Brazoswood FFA Members Receive Highest State HonorThe 92 Annual Texas FFA Convention was truly historic this year. For the first time in history over 10,000 Texas Future Farmers of America (FFA) members were unable to travel to Dallas to have their convention in person. Instead, on July 8-10, 2020 all Texas FFA members viewed the convention virtually in many creative ways across the state. The theme of this year’s convention was STRIVE - If We Won’t, Then Who WIll? Brazoswood FFA had 9 members and 4 advisors that would have travelled to Dallas this year. For two Brazoswood Lone Star Degree winners this meant they were not able to walk the stage to receive their honor. However, Seniors Emilia Hope Tschen and Madison Marie Collins were both recognized virtually as 2020 State Degree Recipients.

The Lonestar FFA Degree is the highest degree that an FFA member can receive at the state level. To receive the Lone Star Degree a member must have been an active FFA member for at least two years, complete at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintain a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, invest significant time and money in the SAE, demonstrate their leadership skills and show a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter, district, area and state levels.

Congratulations to these fine students and their sponsor Gail Coulter for their dedication and commitment to achieving this high recognition.
