Brazosport Independent School District joins school districts across the nation in recognizing March as Vaping Awareness Month, a time to educate students, families, and the community about the risks associated with vaping and e-cigarette use.

Recent data shows that vaping among teens continues to be a significant concern, with studies linking e-cigarette use to lung injuries, nicotine addiction, and other long-term health risks. BISD is committed to providing students with the knowledge and resources to make healthy decisions and avoid the dangers of vaping.

BISD campuses host educational programs, classroom discussions, and parent resources to raise awareness about the consequences of vaping. Students learn about the harmful effects of nicotine, the marketing tactics used by e-cigarette companies, and strategies to resist peer pressure.

“Preventing vaping starts with awareness and support,” said Julie Engelking, BISD At-Risk Coordinator. “We want every student to understand the risks and feel confident making choices that protect their health now and in the years ahead.”

BISD encourages parents and guardians to engage in conversations with their children about vaping, recognize the signs of e-cigarette use, and seek support if needed. You can find additional resources regarding vaping awareness at the websites listed below:
