Brazosport Independent School District hosted a baby shower to celebrate the expectant and adopting staff members within the district. The event was held on March 6, 2024 to honor expectant staff members, including both moms and dads eagerly awaiting the arrival of their little ones. Around 30 were in attendance at the event.
Superintendent Danny Massey expressed the district's excitement, stating, “Welcoming a new life into the world is the greatest event we will experience. We were thrilled to come together to support and celebrate this special chapter in the lives of our dedicated staff members.”
Similar to last year's successful event, generous donations from benefits providers were the highlight of the day, featuring an array of delightful giveaways. Expectant parents received gift cards, baby clothes, ‘Daddy diaper bags,’ and other essential items to make their parenting journey smoother. All attendees as well as expectant parents who were not able to attend received a gift basket with a BISD onesie, coffee cup, sippy cup, a book, and more.
Attendees gained insights into maintaining physical and emotional well-being during pregnancy and after, fostering a supportive environment for both parents.
To ensure that the practical aspects are covered, benefits providers were available to guide employees on adding their new additions to insurance plans. The district's HR team was also present to address any queries related to leave and available benefits.
Organized by the district’s human resources department, the baby shower was not only a celebration of life but also a feast for the taste buds. Culinary students from the district's CTE program prepared a delectable spread, including mouthwatering options including Caprese skewers, a beautiful cake, and an assortment of sweet treats.
Rachel Arthur, from the HR team, expressed gratitude, saying, “We loved celebrating this joyous occasion with our extended BISD family. A special thanks to our benefits providers for their generous contributions and to our talented culinary teachers and students for preparing a delightful feast.”
