Secondary Spotlight Educator: Maryanne Johnson
We are honored to present Maryanne Johnson as the December Secondary Spotlight Educator. Mrs. Johnson, a 5th-grade ELA teacher at Rasco Middle School, embodies everything you want in a teacher at Rasco. Her students are challenged every day to grow and learn with a caring approach. The measurables from common assessments prove her effectiveness as a teacher and her students’ responsiveness to her instruction. On top of her effectiveness, she is a caring coworker who is always helping others, volunteering for student groups, and mentoring new teachers. Her peers state she is a compassionate teacher who takes pride in her teaching. She is always finding ways to grow and make RLA better, and has been a great example for others to follow.

Elementary Spotlight Educator: Amy Scott
We proudly acknowledge Amy Scott as the December Elementary Spotlight Educator. Mrs. Scott serves as a STREAM teacher for Beutel Elementary. She designs innovative lessons including cross-curricular objectives in her classroom. Within those lessons, essential outcomes from core courses are reinforced utilizing Tier I Priorities. For example, students are provided with the opportunity to practice constructed responses in written form with their assignments. Another essential reinforced in her classroom is the measurement TEKS in the mathematics curriculum. Mrs. Scott supports all teachers and all subjects within the walls of her STREAM Lab.

Students from Pre-K3 through 4th grade are engaged in meaningful learning that is connected to real-world experiences. Mrs. Scott fosters inquiry and facilitates a learner-centered experience for all students at A.P. Beutel Elementary.
