BISD’s Business Professionals of America Students Continue Tradition of Excellence
Brazosport High School had 12 students compete at the Business Professionals of America Regional Leadership Conference for Area 5, Region 4 on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Brazosport College. All 12 students have advanced to the state level in at least one of their events.
Sydney Mendoza helped preside over the event as the co-regional president. Rafael “Angel” Pina represented the Texas officer team as the current Associate-Vice President of the Texas Association of BPA.
The students did an amazing job. Below are the event results:
Individual Events:
- Ayla Calvillo: 1st place - Fundamental Accounting
- Laysha Bejarano: 1st place - Administrative Support Research Project
- Ashley Blanco: 1st place - Health Research Presentation
- Deja El-Amin: 1st place - Payroll Accounting
- Angel Pina: 1st place - Presentation Individual
- Aileen Blanco: 2nd place - Advanced Office Systems & Procedures
- Sydney Mendoza: 5th place - Banking & Finance
- Natalya Vallejo: 7th place - Payroll Accounting
Team Events:
- Edward Acosta, Jazmin Brooks, Tabatha Pelata, & McKenzie Smith: 1st place - Broadcast News Production Team
- Ayla Calvillo & Angel Pina: 1st place - Small Business Management Team
- Sydney Mendoza & Natalya Vallejo: 2nd place - Small Business Management Team
Open Events:
- Ashley Blanco: 3rd place - Health Administration Concepts
- Jazmin Brooks: 3rd place - Financial Math & Analysis Concepts
- Angel Pina: 4th place - Management, Marketing & Human Resources
- Tabatha Pelata: 6th place - Financial Math & Analysis Concepts
Natalya Vallejo also ran for 2024-2025 Regional President. Although she did not win, she ran a professional campaign and we are proud of her efforts!
The State Leadership Conference will be held February 28-March 2, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Brazoswood High School BPA team competed and also represented BISD well. Valeria Martinez will advance to the state competition for Legal Office Procedures.
