We are happy to announce that the Brazosport Independent School District Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the school instructional calendars for the next two school years.
Development of the calendar began with input from principals and other district leaders. The ideas proposed by these individuals were taken to a calendar committee that utilized the information to develop three different calendars. Following the creation of three calendar options, a survey was shared with all BISD parents, BISD staff, and the District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC), which is made up of parents, business leaders, retirees, and district staff members. The survey asked individuals to select their preferred calendar from the three options. Overall 75.3% of all staff and parents who took the survey selected the now board-approved calendar (Calendar B). Additionally, 94% of the DEIC also endorsed Calendar B.
Next school year, classes will begin on August 14, 2024, and end on May 22, 2025. The calendar features a five-day fall break for students during the county fair, with a three-day fall break for staff members, and a week off for Thanksgiving. Winter break will begin on Monday, December 23, 2024, with staff returning on January 6 to a professional development day followed by a teacher preparation day, and students returning on January 8, 2025. Spring Break will be the week of March 10-14, 2025, which aligns with Brazosport College. The calendar days of the 2025-2026 school year are the same as the 2024-2025 calendar, which will enable families to plan in advance.
