On Monday, June 19, 2023, at our regularly scheduled Board meeting, two Trustees, Mr. Mason Howard and Mr. Scott Schwertner took their oaths of office from Chief Financial Officer Rebecca Kelley. This year, both incumbents were unopposed at the May 6, 2023 elections and both are anxious to continue their service to the students, families and educators of the Brazosport Independent School District.
Mr. Mason Howard, BISD Board President
Mr. Mason Howard originally began serving on the Board in June of 2011. Mr. Howard, a 1987 graduate of Brazosport High, has lived in BISD his entire life and is married to Paulette, a retired BISD Educator. He and his wife are the proud parents of two adult children, Micheal and Robin who are also graduates of Brazosport High School. This will make Mr. Howard’s 5th term as the precinct 7 representative.
Mr. Scoot Schwertner, BISD Board Vice President
Mr. Scott Schwertner is a proud product of Brazosport ISD and began serving as the district 6 representative in June of 2014. Mr. Schwertner is beginning his fourth term serving BISD in this capacity. Scott and his wife Kristen are both active in the community as volunteers and have two daughters that are graduates of Brazoswood High School.
After the oaths were given, the Board of Trustees went into executive session and then they returned and slated their officers for the incoming year. The Board officers are as follows:
- President - Mason Howard
- Vice President - Scott Schwertner
- Secretary - Jerry Adkins
- Assistant - Secretary Joe Rinehart
