BISD Board Secretary Attends Texas Federal Advocacy Conference in D.C.
Brazosport ISD Board Secretary, Mr. Jerry Adkins, was among the distinguished attendees at the 2024 Texas Federal Advocacy Conference held in Washington D.C. from February 11 to 14, 2024. This conference serves as a vital platform for school board members, public school advocates, and community leaders to dive into essential topics such as strategies, current trends, research, and best practices concerning equity in our nation's public K-12 schools.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in enlightening sessions covering a wide array of crucial subjects. These included updates on Federal Education Policy, insights from the Department of Education, discussions on Educational Finance, considerations on Social Security Benefits for Retired Teachers, and reflections on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Education Policy. Of significant importance was the acknowledgment of the pivotal role school boards play in shaping and nurturing equitable access and opportunities for students to excel in their educational journeys.
