Brazosport ISD Awards $54,994 in CTE Grants

These grants were made possible by the investments from the BISD CTE Major Giving Campaign Investors. Since launching the campaign in February of 2021, BISD has been able to raise over $5.9 million in total investments.

BISD Major Giving Campaign Investors include large corporations and local contractors within the petrochemical and construction industry. Each organization has invested strong support for BISD and the CTE program since 2021. Investors include Dow, Freeport LNG, BASF, Marquis Industrial Services, Contech Control Services, KCG Industrial, Apache Industrial, Ferguson Industrial Services, Wood, Norrell Construction, Southern Gulf Solutions, Top Coat Fabrication, Spectrum Camera Solutions and Millennium Industrial.

“These grant opportunities exemplify our commitment to ensuring our teachers have the necessary programs and tools to prepare students for the workforce,” Superintendent Danny Massey shared. “The investments made by our generous donors directly impact the quality of education and career preparation we offer within our over 100 CTE courses.”

Director of Alternative Funding Aaron Ennis described the process, saying, “At the beginning of each school year, CTE teachers are presented with the opportunity to apply for the CTE-based grants. Teachers will apply for the grants and they are reviewed by a committee to determine which grants should be awarded. In the last two years since starting the CTE grant process, we have been able to award teachers with nearly $110,000 in grants to support them and their students. BISD thanks all our major giving campaign investors for their support of our students, staff, and community.”

BISD was able to recognize CTE grant award winners in a wide variety of subjects with different amounts of grant funding.

Health Science - $17,375

“My students and I were excited to have received a Major Giving Campaign Grant for Engineering in 3D. This grant will provide 3D printers in our Engineering and Computer Science classes. My students will then have the opportunity to experience hands-on prototyping and manufacturing skills with the use of computer aided design (CAD),” said Darren Ingram CTE Teacher at Freeport Intermediate School.
