Brazosport Independent School District is thrilled to announce its active participation in National School Lunch Week (NSLW) from October 9-13, 2023. This annual event serves as a nationwide celebration of the National School Lunch Program, a cornerstone of student nutrition. This year's theme, "Level Up with School Lunch," underscores the significance of nourishing meals in enhancing a student's academic success and overall well-being.
Research consistently reveals that school meals contribute significantly to children's overall health. Throughout National School Lunch Week, BISD's Child Nutrition Department will proudly showcase the wide variety of nutritious foods available daily in our schools, both during NSLW and year-round. Our program is dedicated to educating students about healthy food choices and promoting physical activity, reinforcing the importance of balanced nutrition.
"All students at every campus in Brazosport ISD receive FREE breakfast and lunch every day this school year, thanks to the Community Eligibility Program (CEP)," BISD Director of Child Nutrition Amy Anderson shared. "Our school lunches provide students with fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and milk while adhering to federal nutrition standards. National School Lunch Week offers us a valuable platform to inform parents and students of the incredible benefits of our lunch program."
As part of the "Level Up with School Lunch" campaign, BISD will be hosting some sampling events at our campuses to gather student feedback for new menu items.
