Student Business Professionals Advance at State Leadership Conference

The 2024 Texas Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi, Texas saw exceptional performances from 11 students of Brazosport High School and one from Brazoswood High School. Four of the students from Brazosport High School will go on to compete at the national level.

Congratulations to the following students who have advanced to the national competitions, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois on May 10-14, 2024:

  • Ayla Calvillo: 3rd place, Fundamental Accounting (Qualified for Nationals)
  • Ashley Blanco: 3rd place, Health Research Presentation (Qualified for Nationals)
  • Deja El-Amin: 3rd place, Payroll Accounting (Qualified for Nationals)
  • Angel Pina: 1st place, Presentation Individual (Qualified for Nationals)
  • Small Business Management Team (Deja, Ayla, & Angel): 1st place (Qualified for Nationals)

Additionally, Junior Angel Pina, who held the position of BPA Associate-Vice President for 2023-2024, was reelected for the 2024-2025 term. Another standout, Junior Sydney Mendoza, serving as Regional President for Region 5-4, secured the role of State Reporter for the upcoming year and will be attending the national conference as well. Both students also received the Statesman Torch Awards, highlighting their well-rounded contributions to the organization.

In the words of BISD Superintendent Danny Massey, "The success of our student business professionals at the State Leadership Conference is a testament to their hard work, skills, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them excel at the national level.  We are proud to offer these opportunities for our students and grateful for the dedication of our teachers."
