Texas Performance Standards Projects

The goal of the Texas Performance Standards Projects (TPSP) is to allow students to create professional quality work in alignment with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students.

For more information, please visit
http://www.texaspsp.org/

All identified GT students in grades K-8 will complete a TPSP project each year. Students in grades 2-8 will be judged by outside evaluators on vocabulary of the discipline, eye contact, correct grammar, ability to answer questions and understanding of the topic. Teachers will judge the project for required research elements, punctuation, neatness, bibliography, level of independence and depth of understanding.

How students benefit from the TPSP?

Students who participate in the TPSP:

  • develop confidence in their abilities to complete an independent research project using Independent Investigation Method (IIM);
  • use their own research to produce an innovative product;
  • are stretched to discover what they are capable of doing academically;
  • learn to accept challenges in order to produce a product at a rigorous level;
  • explore an area of interest and passion;
  • perform research aligned with grade level standards; and
  • improve communication and presentation skills.
