On February 17, the Brazosport Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved the instructional calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. BISD created a local process of gathering input and feedback from campus staff, administrators, a District Educational Improvement Committee, and an Instructional Calendar Committee.
The 2020-2021 school year will begin on August 19, 2020 and end on May 27, 2021. The calendar includes two professional development days in October that coincide with the fair, and two professional days in February that coincide with Presidents Day, an exchange day that coincides with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an exchange day in mid-April, a full week for Thanksgiving and Spring Break, and more than two full weeks for Christmas break. Students will also have time off for Labor Day and Good Friday.
Other calendar highlights include:
- Two early release days for all students - December 18 and May 27
- Two early release days for high schools only - December 17 and May 26
- The calendar provides campus staff with seven contract days prior to the start of school
