Brazosport ISD and most of the district’s 19 campuses improved their state accountability results since last reported in 2019 despite the interruptions to learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The district earned an 89(B), five campuses earned an ‘A’, thirteen earned a ‘B’ and one campus earned a ‘C’.
“We are extremely proud of the efforts of all our staff and especially our teachers who ensure each of our students are learning at high levels. This is more evidence of the high quality of education our students are receiving in Brazosport ISD,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.
TEA has not rated districts or schools for the past two years. In 2020 and 2021 schools and districts were instead labeled as ‘Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster’ due to the pandemic. You can view the 2022 rating for your child’s school and the state by clicking on the links below. Additional resources for parents can be found by visiting .
The state accountability ratings are based on three domains:
- Student Achievement: evaluates State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and End of Course (EOC) performance in selected grades and subjects for all students on general and alternate assessments, college, career and military readiness indicators (CCMR), and graduation rates.
- School Progress: measures district and campus outcomes in two ways: first, academic growth, students who grew at least one year academically (or maintained high performance) in reading and math as measured by STAAR results, and second, relative performance, the overall campus achievement relative to districts or campuses with similar economically disadvantaged percentages.
- Closing the Gaps: uses disaggregated (student group) data in four indicators to demonstrate differentials among racial/ethnic groups, socioeconomic backgrounds and other student groups.
The district and 13 of its 15 eligible campuses earned a total of 39 state distinctions. This is eight more distinctions than in 2019 and 24 more than the previous year. To View a list of each distinction earned by campus and read more about these designations go to this news story.
