This is the image for the news article titled Janice Eubank Storybook Summer 2022BISD would like to thank the volunteers who read the book Next Stop Second Grade,  written by Judy Katschke and illustrated by Clare Elsom to our first graders this last week as part of the annual Janice's Storybook Summer. Thanks to generous donations, each first grader was provided their own copy of the book to begin their summer reading and their home library. Thank you for honoring the memory of our former teacher, Janice Eubank.

Janice Eubank lost her battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease in March 2007. She taught in BISD for the final 24 years of her 35 year career. Her passion was teaching children, and her dream was that every student in first grade would have a special gift at the end of the school year, and that people would come and read to them. Janice’s Storybook Summer, which is now in its 12th year, is a memorial to her with the main goals being to impart literacy and to encourage the love of reading, two goals Janice strongly supported.
