Hopper Field was covered in brilliant red, white and blue under the Friday night lights as both Brazosport and Edna ISD came together to acknowledge the 18 year anniversary of 9/11 and pay tribute to area first responders. Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department, local police, fire and EMS departments were special guests and lined the field as a tribute was read by the announcer. The Exporter band played God Bless the USA as the AFJROTC unfurled a large American flag. The National Anthem was then performed by Brazosport choir student Iliana Casteneda, while representatives from both schools’ football teams, cheerleaders and drill teams gathered to hold the flag that stretched across the playing field.
It was a great reminder of the heroes that saved so many lives and the unifying strength when we come together for a common goal. Thank you to all who made it such a meaningful night.
