January is National Mentoring Month and Brazosport ISD is celebrating the annual campaign aimed at expanding quality mentoring connections between caring adults and our BISD students.
Research shows that mentors play a powerful role in providing young people with the tools to attend and engage in school, to reduce or avoid risky behaviors like drug use and to achieve success in life. These young people are also:
- 55% more likely to be enrolled in college
- 81% more likely to report participating regularly in sports or extracurricular activities
- 78% more likely to volunteer regularly in their communities
- 130% more likely to say they held a leadership position in a club or sports team
- 90% more likely to say they are now interested in becoming mentors
As the 2020 new year begins, please consider joining us in this rewarding movement. We’d love to have you come make a difference in a student’s life. It’s not too late to contact us and get started.
