On Thursday, May 28, 2020, Brazosport ISD student Eddie Flores was surprised by his family, BISD staff, and the SystemsGo team with a $3,000 scholarship from SystemsGo. Eddie Flores is the first BISD student to receive the SystemsGo scholarship based on his experience and participation within the BISD Rocketry program these past four years.
Last year, Eddie successfully led a team in the Tsiolkovsky level of the curriculum, in which students have a mission to carry a 1 lb payload to one mile in the air. This year on the Goddard team, Eddie researched, presented, and developed manufacturing processes for advanced carbon fiber composite fins. These fins can hold up to high velocity flight while creating large weight-savings for the vehicle.
Eddie plans to major in mechanical engineering and has been accepted into multiple college engineering programs. BISD is proud of Eddie and knows that he will continue to advance and excel in his future career path. Congratulations!
SystemsGo is a program designed to promote the study of engineering and the development of workforce skills. It encourages students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mechanics.
