BISD believes collaborative partnerships are vital; and cultivating relationships with local industry and community leaders create partnerships that improve student learning experiences. It is in that spirit, Brazosport ISD is excited to announce a one million dollar investment from Freeport LNG, making them a major donor in our funding campaign to support Career and Technical Education Programs. Superintendent Danny Massey said, “We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from Freeport LNG and as a District remain committed to graduating students with skills necessary to be college and career ready.”

Brazosport ISD has now exceeded $3.5 million dollars towards the $5 million campaign goal. Wendy Mazurkiewicz, Director of Community Affairs at Freeport LNG, said, “Freeport LNG understands the importance of the career and technology (CTE) programs in the public schools to our industry. As you know, the shale-gas and oil revolution has been creating tens of thousands of jobs for skilled workers, and we need educated and skillfully trained people to fill these jobs. We want to invest in these programs in support of those students who not only choose professional career paths but also those in the technical and skilled-trades fields. Because of these CTE programs, students have an opportunity to graduate career-ready for high paying jobs they can enter right out of high school or transition more readily into advanced technical school programs like the one at Brazosport College.”

With Freeport LNGs investment, Brazosport ISD can continue to grow programs and expand program offerings. CTE Director Jessie Jennings said, “These partnerships and giving opportunities are an investment in our entire program, and allows us to provide real world relevant learning experiences, making them better prepared for success upon graduation. Jennings added, “Partnerships with local industry partners like Freeport LNG show the commitment and investment in creating future skilled laborers, thereby producing a sustainable and efficient workforce pipeline.”

With a new state of the art CTE Center at Brazosport and Brazoswood high schools, Brazosport ISD will provide additional courses and pathways for students to choose from when planning for their future. These courses and pathways will accommodate the demand of our different industries. Brian Cole, Brazosport ISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction said, “Working with our industry partners ensures that our BISD students are equipped today for the jobs of tomorrow. Without our industry partners this would not be possible.”

With new facilities and growing programs, Brazosport ISD can continue to provide quality learning experiences and further expand the pipeline of talent needed to service many new capital construction projects and manufacturing jobs, as well as our growing health science and STEM workforce. Resource Development Coordinator Aaron Ennis said, “The Brazosport area continues to grow and provide valuable high paying jobs despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Investments from top organizations like Freeport LNG guarantees we can continue to grow and provide talent to our area in many different capacities. We thank Freeport LNG for their investment in the future of CTE and in Brazosport ISD students.
