Last year, Brazosport Independent School District held a 5K Fun Run, Kids 1K and health fair for the first time. It was a remarkable initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness while fostering community unity. With numerous participants joining the 5K and Kids Run, and a sea of enthusiastic supporters lining the route, it was an unforgettable day for all involved.

On Saturday, September 16, BISD proudly hosted its second annual 5K Fun Run and Health Fair, and this year's event saw a tremendous increase in student and family attendance, with the number of participants on race day surpassing the previous year.

The primary mission of the event, as well as the broader BISD Health and Wellness Program, is to connect our BISD Family to community partners and resources and to encourage them to prioritize and embrace a healthier lifestyle. Through this event BISD continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to the well-being of students, staff, and the entire Brazosport community.

Highlights of the Event:

Costume Contest Winner: The event featured an exciting costume contest, showcasing the creativity and spirit of our participants. The OM Roberts Elementary staff, dressed in a Barbie Theme, and claimed the title of this year's Costume Contest Winner.

Highest Campus Participation Award: Recognizing the collective effort of BISD schools, the Highest Campus Participation Award was bestowed upon Clute Intermediate School, whose students, teachers, and families showed remarkable enthusiasm and support for the event.

Youngest Runner: The event celebrated youth involvement in fitness and health. The youngest runner, Adeline Allen, stole hearts as they courageously completed the Kids Run, showing that it's never too early to embrace an active lifestyle.

5K Winner: The title of the 5K champion went to #350 Giovani Diaz, who crossed the finish line with determination and excellence and a time of 17:10. His achievement symbolizes the dedication of our participants to fitness and overall well-being.
